Now about techstream, I found this post here (sorry if I am not supposed to post external links to other forums) on 4Runner forums: However in Googling that I did find other vids that claim to show how to reprogram, I will check those out. I also went to his youtube channel and searched, I don't think that his ECU programming video exists anymore. This is a post here on these forums that links his video for this, but the video has been removed from youtube (maybe Toyota made him remove it?) I looked and this is what I found about SpeedKar and the ECU: I am very tech savvy, been in the IT field all my life. I called a specialty mobile locksmith and he was able to do it for $350 that included two new master keys and showed up to my front door, all I needed to do was show proof of ownership. Lexus quoted me $1200 to re-key an RX330 I was working on which the only master was lost, they didn't even bother suggesting re-seed mode, they wanted me to purchase a new ECU, keys, and lock tumblers AND have it towed to the dealer. And to delete all keys as a basic user, the master is required. Not sure if generating a key will work in this case as it looks like it checks in with the TIS/Toyota server but I'm not 100% just my observation. Unless you have valid credentials, you cannot get Techstream to enter re-seeding mode. There's a video on YouTube from a member on here, speedkar I think his user was. If you are tech savvy, there is a way to reprogram the ECU but this requires taking apart the ECU and tapping into the chip that stores the hex keys. Regardless, if you want to own this car long term, a true master key is a must. You are correct on your assumptions, you have a master cut but not a master learned chip, a master cut is relatively easy to accomplish, it's a master programed chip that's the issue. I have never used Techstream before but I also have a 2011 4runner so I am thinking of purchasing it anyway, if it could help me with my camry key issue then that is just icing on the cake.Īnywho, I am looking for any and all options that don't include going to the shady dealers that exist around me. I found a website that will let me rent a programmer that plugs into OBDII but me being able to program without the master doesn't seem very likely.Īlso, if I buy Toyotas Techstream program from a 3rd party auction site or similar will this allow me to wipe all keys myself, then re-program a master key? I found a website that lets you take the 96 character seed number from Techstream and generate the "pass code" that you need from Toyota. Super greedy and don't really care about you or the vehicle, just your money. I have some shady Toyota dealers around where I live, REAL SHADY. I am worried that the dealer will do this anyway and claim the key can't be programmed even if it could because they want the money. They say if my "Internet keys" don't work, I will be stuck there at the dealer since they wiped all keys, and then will be forced to purchase their $250 key to get home. They told me that because I don't have a master, they will have to wipe all keys, create a new master program, then write a new master key with the new program. The dealer wants $250 for the key then another $110 to program it. So what are my options? I am looking to go the cheapest way possible, but I want the triangle shaped key that has remote entry (going to purchase key off Internet). So I am assuming that my black copy key has a master cut on it, but not a master chip program on the internal chip. This tells me that neither of the keys are master keys, yet the black copy key has a master cut on it because it will open the glovebox and the trunk. However, when I stick either key into the ignition, the security light stays on for about 2 seconds. Of course the valet key doesn't open the box or the trunk, but my copy key does. The original valet key has a G on it for a G key, the black key has no marking at all. I only was given 2 keys, a genuine Toyota Valet key and a black copy key (not genuine Toyota). I recently purchased a 2011 Camry LE that I believe has no master key.
